Did this web site save you a pile of money?

If you used the information from this web site to install a single new telephone jack,
you probably saved at least $100.

Help Support This Web Site With A Voluntary Donation

Phone companies are glad to send a technician to your house.  The charge for the first hour is about $85.  After the first hour, every 15 minutes is another $20, or more.  If it took you four hours to do your own wiring using the information from this site, you can bet it would have taken a phone company tech at least two hours - for which you would have paid at least $165.

The advice on this site is provide free of charge, but maintaining the site and responding to the continuous flow of emails that is generates take a significant amount of time and for those of us in the telecommunications installation business, time is money.  The number of visitors to the site caused the Yahoo/GeoCities bandwidth allowance for free sites of 3 gigabytes per month to be exceeded on a regular recurring basis, so I have moved the site to a paid hosting option that will not have this limitation.  Your donation will help me justify the time and expense of moving and maintaining the site on a new hosting service.

EMails

If you send a request for advice, please make sure you can receive the reply.

Please add the addresses shown below to your "allowed lists" in your email client and spam filtering software.  It's very frustrating to spend the time to compose a detailed response to a request for advice, then send the email and receive an automated response saying the reply was blocked because the address was not in an EarthLink "Approved Senders" list, a PeoplePC address book, or some such thing.  If you're going to take the time to send me an email, please also take the time to ensure the response will not be blocked.

The volume of email the spam bots generate to a web posted address without this measure is outrageous.

If you have comments or questions about this web site, please send me an email.

Due to the large volume of email messages that I receive, I am not able to provide a personal response to some of them.  I review every email received and respond as time permits.  If you do not receive a response, please do not be offended.  I respond to email requests for a more specific personalized advice whenever possible, but I will give priority to requests from people that have made a donation to help support maintenance of the web site.  So if you're sending an email, please be sure to include the email address used to make the donation and the date the donation was made.

Requests for advice that are covered in the web site may not get a response, so please take the time to follow all the links.  I simply receive too many emails to always respond to requests for information that is already on the web site.  If the info you need is not in the web site, send me an email, even if you haven't made a donation.  If time permits, I will respond and I do respond to the great majority of request for advice.  I will also use your questions to know where to concentrate my efforts so that the information may be there if you check back at a future date.

If you don't receive a response and think you email or my response may have been blocked by spam filters, you are welcome to send me another email.  If you have made a donation and don't receive a response, please send me another email, providing a phone number in case emails sent to you are being blocked.  I don't post my phone number because it would generate thousands of calls asking for help with wiring projects and I'd never get anything else done! If you made a donation and you send me your phone number, I will call you and nobody else will get your phone number from me.

Donate just ten percent of what you saved and help maintain this site.

If the information provided via this site saved you from paying a large bill for a service call by the telephone company, a donation of 10% of what you saved would be greatly appreciated.  A donation of $10 seems easy to justify if you saved $100.  If you worked just a half day on a wiring project using the advice from this site, you probably saved over $200.  Surely that advice was worth a $20 donation.

Unfortunately, the donation won't be tax deductible, but you can be proud of helping to support a web site that has saved you and thousands of other people a pile of money.  If only 25 percent of the people visiting the site save $100, you'll be part of an effort that has probably already kept over $10,000,000 in the pockets of home owners.
